Mrs. Amy Pygon • 18th year of teaching…my 16th in Ken-Ton • Currently co-teaching 2nd grade math with Mrs. Moore, co-teaching 1st grade ELA & math with Mrs. Grosofsky and teaching Kindergarten Resource Room. • Have taught k-3 special education students at Lindbergh, Hamilton, and Holmes Elementary since 2008. • Co-Taught 7/8 grades at Franklin Middle from 2000-2008. • Earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. • Hold permanent NYS certification in both Special Education k-12 and Elementary Education k-6. • I regularly check my school email: apygon@ktufsd.org and consider this to be the easiest form of communication unless there is an emergency in which case you should call the office at 874-8410. • Feel free to view my school web page if you are looking for new recipes to try for dinner… I have many of my favorites that are quick and healthy for rushed weekday nights! • Looking forward to a great year with you and your mathematician!

5. Mrs. Feickert Previously Miss Cotton. Third year at Lindbergh Elementary. Past two years in third and fourth grade co-teaching classrooms. First year co-teaching in second grade!  Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood and Childhood Education. Master of Science in Childhood Special Education. 10. Individual Grids • Each child has a monthly grid. • When they are on task or deserve a reward they are asked to color in a piece. • When the grid is full they move on to the next grid. • This positively reinforces expected working behaviors

American Reading at Lindbergh K-3! • Our goal is to grow Readers! • 30 minutes of Independent Reading at SCHOOL • (2 steps) • 30 minutes of Independent Reading at HOME • (2 steps) • Steps will be tracked at home and school. Our goal is approximately 700 steps at the beginning of the end of the year.

Our September Goal…… • Establish Baseline Level for Every Student • Develop an Action Plan to Ensure Reading Proficiency for Every Student • Monitor Progress Towards Goal • The baseline level is the highest level at which a student can demonstrate proficiency without teacher help. For each level, a color has been assigned. • Your child will be reading leveled books on his/her independent level.

18. How can you help? • Your child will come home each night (starting soon!) with a book bag filled with leveled books on his/her independent reading level • Read 2 steps at home (30 minutes…15 minutes equals 1 step) each night Monday-Sunday
