  3. What is an ”Aerotropolis” Aerotropolis (air.oh.TROP.ul.lis) n. A city in which the layout, infrastructure, and economy are centered around a major airport. A Planning Model – as opposed to haphazard development that could result An economic hub / development strategy - extending out from P.T.I. into the Piedmont Triad Region which could consist of warehouse & distribution facilities, office buildings, light manufacturing firms, convention centers, and business-class hotel accommodations, upscale retail mix, restaurants, entertainment, recreation, golf courses, and single and multiple-family housingall linked to the airport via roads, expressways (aerolinks), and rail lines (aerotrains).
