Chapter 4 • “’Is there a signal?’ Ralph looked back at the disappearing smoke on the horizon the at the mountain. ‘The fire has died.’” (pg. 67) • “This is from Piggy, and the wails of agreement from the other hunters, drove Jack to violence. Ralph made a step forward and Jack smacked Piggy’s head. Piggy’s glasses flew off and tinkled down.” (pg. 71) • “The smaller ones were known by the generic title of ‘littluns’ no one had any difficulty recognizing the biguns at one end and the littluns at the other.” (pg. 59) • “They were used now to stomach aches and a sort of chronic diarrhea. They suffered untold terrors in the dark and huddled together for comfort.” (pg. 59) • “’We could make a sundial.’ ‘A fat lot of good that would be.’ ‘You said you wanted things done so we could be rescued.’ ‘Oh, shut up.’ (pg. 64-65)
