Enhancing Pediatric HIV Disclosure and Psychosocial Support in Kenya: The Mwangalizi Pilot Project
The Mwangalizi Pilot Project aims to improve pediatric HIV disclosure and psychosocial support (PSS) in clinical settings across Kenya. With over 3,174 children enrolled, the project emphasizes culturally sensitive approaches that facilitate disclosure through a staged process involving caregivers and counselors. Findings show increased adherence to ART, improved emotional well-being, and greater clinic attendance among children who are aware of their status. This initiative highlights the essential link between psychological and clinical outcomes and advocates for child-centered health models in response to HIV.
