  3. 2014-2015 Testing Calendar Tentative as of August 12, 2014 • 1st and 2nd Grade: April 13 - April 17, 2015 (SAT 10 Reading and Mathematics) • 3rd and 4th Grade: March 16-April 10, 2015 (FSA English Language Arts and Mathematics/ paper-based test) • 5th Grade: April 13 - May 8, 2014 (FSA English Language Arts and Mathematics/ computer-based test) • 5th Grade: April 13- May 8, 2015 (FCAT 2.0 Science Test/paper-based test) * (FSA)Florida Standards Assessments

Home Learning • Every Monday students receive their weekly home learning typed on a sheet of paper. • Please take a moment on Mondays to review their home learning and make sure that it is completed every day. • (SSM) Sunshine Math is assigned biweekly and is due the following Monday. No late SSM will be accepted. • Home learning is checked and reviewed everyday, it helps transition us to the next lesson. • Basic fact fluency is very important to set the foundation for critical thinking and problem solving.

Recipe to Success • Complete class work and home learning on time and with their best effort. • Follow Sunset’s Core Values and class/school rules. • Come to school with materials READY TO LEARN. • Parents register for Parent Portal to have grade book access. • Check your child’s home learning DAILY. • Schedule a Parent Conference if you have any concerns.

Grading Policy • Academics • 100 point scale ( A,B,C,D,F) • Access the online grade book (PARENT PORTAL) Variety of Assessments • Z = Did not turn in an assignment • X= Excused (absent) • Conduct • Check grade book weekly, if there is a drop in behavior, it will be in grade book under math but not weight so it does not affect the average only the conduct grade.

Cleared Volunteers • Volunteers (New District Procedures) • Application process must be completed through parent portal • Must be renewed every year • How you can help: • Outdoor Classroom, science investigations, STEM Lab, Mangrove Reclamation Project, SWAT night, SECME, Reflections Arts Program, Pangearoom parent.

  10. Science Fair Projects • 3rd grade students will complete a class science fair project. • 4th grade students will complete an individual science fair project. It can be an experiment or an invention. Most of my students have turned in a problem statement for their science experiment.
