Positions • There are 3 main positions in basketball: • Point Guard • Forward • Centre
Today’s Task • A player must have specific qualities to fulfil the responsibilities their position has in the team. • Go to www.nba.com (click the player tab) • Create a player profile for each of the following player – LeBron James Steve Nash Shaquille O’neal. • Profiles should include: team, number, position, height, weight, PPG, RPG, APG.
Point Guard • A good Point Guard will be: • A confident dribbler • A leader on the court • A good decision maker • An accurate passer • Fast • Agile • An accurate 3 point shooter
Centre • A good Centre will be: • Tall • A good rebounder • Able to anticipate where shots will fall • A successful lay-up shooter.
Forward • A good forward will be: • Tall (not as tall as centre) • Speed • An accurate passer • Able to score from mid-range • Able to drive at the basket and score lay-ups
