  2. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL Objectives Collection and Distribution of all Information required for Public and Private Decision-making For the planning of disposal and recycling infrastructures and.. ..sufficiently diversified ? ..ecologically efficient ? for the supervison ofwaste streams ..in conformity with legislation ? ..fulfilling sustainable waste management options ? State Environmental Agency of NRW / Germany

  3. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL Access to AIDA • Intranet version in the administrative network for the environmental authorities:http://lv.lua.nrw.de • Internet version for the public:www.nrw-luawebapps.de State Environment Agency of NRW / Germany

  4. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL AIDA elements • Information on .. • waste owners • treatment plants • waste volume • waste chemistry Register of generators and operators Register of all waste recycling and disposal facilities, incl. production processes Quantity of waste generated, treated, recycled and disposed of Chemical and physical characterization of all waste from the European Waste Catalogue State Environmental Agency of NRW / Germany

  5. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL Reference systems • waste owners : • treatment plants : • waste volume: • waste chemistry: ASYS = Hazardous waste control ENADA = Waste recycling and disposal facility register AMEDA = Waste quantities of waste owners and municipalities ABANDA = Waste composition / waste analysis data ISA = master system for licensed industrial processes based on the Immission Control Act State Environmental Agency of NRW / Germany

  6. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL AIDA site map site map of AIDA Integrated InternetWaste Information System in North Rhine-Westphalia / Germany State Environmental Agency of NRW / Germany

  7. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL AIDA navigation Search for name and location of waste owners Details of generators, operators, links to further data as e.g. input/output Maps with Waste Treatment Facilities, Waste Generators and Emission-controlled Facilities Waste analysis, standards Statistics and evaluations of Waste Quantities Catalogues / Definitions State Environmental Agency of NRW

  8. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL 1. data base ENADA First publication on the complete infrastructure of disposal and recycling facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia, available on the LUA homepage: www.lua.nrw.de State Environmental Agency of NRW / Germany

  9. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL data base AMEDA Material flow data in a waste quantity database = AMEDA Objectives: Comparison of capacity and input data for planning and rentability reflections Comparison of potentially overlapping or contradictory data from different sources Information: data source, year, generator, resp. waste facility and EWC-Code 32,000 data sets per year, for the period from 1989 onwards from 12 different data sources, resp. different legal backgrounds AMEDA resulted in the 1st complete balance of waste disposal activities published in the waste disposal and recovery atlas ( SARDINIA 2003 ) State Environmental Agency of NRW /Germany

  10. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL waste quantity data State Environmental Agency of NRW /Germany

  11. data on the chemical-physical waste composition, with additional information on technical + geographical waste origin, indicating the test type, the analysis parameters, the measuring value and, if known, the method of analysis. 16,574 waste reports for 29,209 samples with 434,498 values 66 % of the data from hazardous waste disposal certificates 267 limit/standard value lists taken from 84 sets of regulations WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL data base ABANDA ABANDA - the web-based data base on waste composition ABANDA collects, orders and stores analysis data State Environmental Agency of NRW /Germany

  12. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL User-defined evaluation ”Limit value comparison” State Environmental Office of NRW /Germany

  13. ABANDA, ADDIS, ASYS, NIKLAS, LINOS, ISA Emissions, Waste chemistry Facility Quantity ABILA, LIMO, NIKLAS,ISA-EE, ABDAT, ADDIS, ASYS, ENADA Waste owners (generators and operators) ISA, ENADA, ASYS, ADDIS WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL Results • analytical parameters and waste description are harmonized • definitions of facilities and plants are egalized • double counting or gaps concerning waste volume are abolished. State Environmental Agency of NRW / Germany

  14. WASTE 2004 - STRIEGEL Outlook Substitution of multiple operators‘ reporting duties by a single and complete annual input/output balance Collection of pollutant load transfercoefficients from waste treatment facilities and investigation on regional and sectoralmaterial streams and pollutant transfers Integrated data processing for water, waste and air-related releases from all facilities handling with waste and comparative studies on the ecological impact of treatment technologieswith regard to the environmental effectiveness of different waste management options.
