Kenneth T. Whitby Award American Association for Aerosol Research

The Kenneth T. Whitby Award honors young scientists who have made outstanding technical contributions to aerosol science and technology. This prestigious award encourages continued work in the field and ongoing support of such endeavors. Mark T. Swihart, Ph.D., was the 2007 recipient of this award for his significant contributions to aerosol science, including the incorporation of detailed chemical kinetics into aerosol dynamic models, aerosol synthesis of nanomaterials, and his work on improving data inversion code for the Differential Mobility Analyzer. Professor Swihart has also received six patents and is an exceptional teacher, having supervised 10 MS and 5 PhD graduates.

  2. The award honors Kenneth T. Whitby, known for his contributions to aerosol measurement, the study of aerosol properties and behavior, and the nature of atmospheric aerosols. The Kenneth T. Whitby Award“recognizes outstanding technical contributions aerosol science and technology by a young scientist. The purpose of the award is to encourage continued work in the field and ongoing support of such endeavors”.
