  2. The award honors Kenneth T. Whitby, known for his contributions to aerosol measurement, the study of aerosol properties and behavior, and the nature of atmospheric aerosols. The Kenneth T. Whitby Award“recognizes outstanding technical contributions to aerosol science and technology by a young scientist. The purpose of the award is to encourage continued work in the field and ongoing support of such endeavors”.

  3. 2013 Recipient of the Kenneth T. Whitby Award • Jian Wang • Brookhaven National Laboratory • Currently a tenured scientist, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Department of Energy • 49 refereed journal articles • “Dr. Jian Wang's contributions to aerosol science…demonstrate an exceptionally high level of innovation and a keen ability to cut to the important issues.” • “Dr. Wang’s invention of the Fast Integrated Mobility Spectrometer (FIMS) is an exceptional and amazingly thorough body of work.” • “…his research … on the aerosol influences on atmospheric radiation and clouds, combined fundamental theory with in-situ observation, substantially improving our understanding of aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions.” • “…one of the most talented young aerosol experimentalists in the world today”
