  8. The Nile is the longest river in the world.

  9. The River Nile drains a vast area of North East Africa (an area equal to a tenth of the whole of Africa).

  10. The two main rivers that feed the Nile are the Blue Nile (which begins at Lake Tana, in Ethiopia) and the White Nile (which begins at Lake Victoria, in Uganda).

  11. These two rivers join at Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, before crossing into Egypt. Finally after 6,670 kilometres the Nile flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
