  4. Ⅰ. Lead-in • Receiving visitors is the essential skill required on a secretary, as it is very important in daily office routine. After learning this unit, you are supposed to be able to grasp the basic skills of writing toasts and all kinds of congratulatory speeches.

  15. Ⅳ.Practical Writing 1. Toast(祝酒词) • 祝酒词是在宴会开始前,所发表的表示诚挚祝福的讲话。表示致词人向出席者表示欢迎、感谢和问候。通常谈成绩、作用、意义并联系面临的任务、使命展望未来。与欢迎词相仿,但更简单扼要,结尾有举杯祝愿内容,常用“请允许我,为谁、为什么而干杯” 。篇幅简单,语言口语化,态度热情。

  20. Ⅳ.Practical Writing • 3. Farewell Speech and Send-off Speech(欢送词与告别词) • 欢送词是社交活动中用以欢送宾客朋友的专用文书。客人办完了事情要离别时,宾主欢聚一堂,相互致辞,并致祝愿,表示依依不舍这情,以增进友谊和了解,加强合作。这时主人的讲话称为欢送词(Send-off speech),客人的讲话称为告别词(Farewell speech)。通常首先说明离开的对象是谁,然后通过回忆与客人相处的美好光景表示对客人的依依不舍之情,最后对客人表示祝福。
