  1. STUDENT NUTRITION PROJECT AFTER COMPLETING THE NUTRITIONAL LEARNING GUIDE AND QUIZ, STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE THE NUTRITION PROJECT FOR A GRADE. PROJECT: STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE A “MEAL PLATE” FOR A WHOLE DAY; BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER AND SNACK. IN THIS MEAL PLATE THE STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE FOODS TO COMPLETE THEIR MEALS, BASED ON WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED ABOUT NURTITION. MEALS SHOULD BE COMPOSED OF HEALTHY FOODS THAT WILL GIVE EACH STUDENT THE RECOMMENDED DAILY SERVINGS FROM EACH OF THE 6 FOOD GROUPS; GRAINS, FRUITS, VEGETABLES, MEATS, DAIRY AND OILS. PRESENTATION: STUDENTS SHOULD MAKE A VISUAL PRESENTATION OF THEIR MEAL PLATES, THAT WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE CLASS. GRADING: STUDENTS WILL BE GRADED ON HOW NUTRITIOUS THEIR MEALS ARE, HOW CLOSELY THEY FOLLOW THE FOOD PYRAMID RECOMMENDATIONS AND ALSO ON THEIR PRESENTATION ITSELF. BREAKFAST: • 2 SLICES OF TOAST (2 GRAINS) • SCRAMBLED EGGS (1 MEAT) • PIECE OF FRUIT: ORANGE OR BANANA (1 FRUIT) • ORANGE JUICE (1 FRUIT) LUNCH: • GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWHICH WITH LETTUCE, TOMATOE AND CHEESE (1 MEAT, 2 GRAINS, 2 VEGETABLES, 1 DAIRY) • PIECE OF FRUIT: APPLE OR GRAPES (1 FRUIT) • DIET SODA (1 OIL/SWEETS) DINNER: • PIECE OF MEAT: STEAK OR GRILLED FISH (1 MEAT) • RICE OR PASTA (2 GRAINS) • TWO VEGETABLES: CARROTS, POTATOES, ASPARAGUS OR BROCOLLI (2 VEGETABLES) • MILK (1 DAIRY) SNACK: • LOW FAT FROZEN YOGURT OR LOW FAT ICE CREAM (1 DAIRY) TOTAL: • MEAT: 3 • GRAINS: 6 • FRUIT: 3 • VEGETABLES: 4 • DAIRY: 3 • OILS/SWEETS: 1
