  1. ACT and You!

  2. ACT: Purpose • Nearly all colleges will also ask you to submit scores from a national standardized test. The ACT test is one of two national exams used for this purpose. • Your ACT composite score, together with your high school grades, indicates how prepared you are for college. • In addition, the scores from the various sections of the ACT will help your college place you in the right classes, matching your skills with course requirements. • The ACT is accepted or preferred by more colleges and universities—including all of the Ivy League colleges—than any other entrance exam.

  3. ACT: Specifics • Date: March 3, 2015 • Time: 7:35-12:00 • You can retake the test April 18 and June 13.

  4. ACT Test-Taking Strategies • Answer the easy questions first, then go back and answer the more difficult ones if you have time remaining on that test. • On difficult questions, eliminate as many incorrect answers as you can, then make an educated guess among those remaining. • Answer every question. There is no penalty for guessing. Those left unanswered are marked as wrong. • If you complete a test before time is called, recheck your work on that test.

  5. ACT Brochure Please read over the brochure: Guiding Questions • What are two ACT Strategies and Tips that you think are most important to remember for taking the ACT? • What can you do to be successful on March 3?
