The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international targets established by 193 UN member states and 23 international organizations, aimed at eradicating poverty and enhancing global well-being by 2015. Each goal encompasses specific targets and indicators, designed to address critical issues like poverty, education, gender equality, health, and sustainability. Key initiatives were launched to provide financial support through organizations like the World Bank and IMF to help impoverished nations redirect resources saved from debt cancellation into vital social programs.
