  2. Introduction • Question: How do the species of the duck pond interact with each other and amongst themselves? • Hypothesis: If the ducks and geese in the duck pond are observed in the same environment, then there will be negative interactions or avoidance between the species because geese are territorial and aggressive.

  3. Materials and Methods • Materials • Camera • Pen and Paper • Methods • Observe the ducks and geese in the duck pond for an allotted time • Record all observations

  4. Observations • Ducks: • Groups of pairs/bachelors • Searched for food • Aggressive single males • Feed, preen, sleep • Bachelors preened more • Equal amounts of time on land and water • Travelled one behind the other

  5. Observations Cont… • Geese: • Large group, very clustered • Breeding pairs • Slept more • Preened less • Aggressive single males • Shallow/open water • Fed when provided food

  6. Observations Cont… • Interactions between Ducks and Geese • No negative • Swam freely • Geese ignored ducks • Ate without aggression

  7. Number of Organisms

  8. Conclusions • Hypothesis was partially rejected • No negative behavior between species • Ignored eachother
