  2. Scientific information and geography range • My Scientific name is Ambystoma mexicanum • I‘m From the salamander family • I live in cold environment with a temperature of 57°F and 62°F if more preferable even thought the temperature of the water in Lake Xochimilco is about 68°F at max. • I am cold-blooded organism. • Because of the cold temperature that I live in my metabolism is slow. • I‘m found in Lake Xochimilco in central Mexico .

  3. Physical traits • I can be large. • I‘m About a foot 30 cm in length. • My average size is closer to half of their length. • I can be black or mottled brown but albino and white varieties are somewhat common. • I am a cylindrical salamanders . • My most notable physical feature is its gills • My legs are short. • I have four fingers on each of its front legs and five toes on each of its back legs. • Range mass: 60 to 110 g. • Range length: 30 (high) cm. • Average length: 23 cm.

  4. I can have different colors

  5. I have a cartilaginous skeleton. My muscles are similar to a fish.I breath through my cartilaginous gills. When we, older axolotls, supplement our oxygen by filling our rudimentary lungs at the surface of the water.I excrete only half of my nitrogenous wastes as weak urine. I do not have eyelids.

  6. Diet and feeding habits • I can survive up to 15 years on a diet of mollusks, worms, insect larvae, crustaceans, and some fish. • I am the top predator in its habitat. • Ihave rather rudimentary teeth, designed for gripping rather than biting or tearing. As a result, their food is generally swallowed whole.

  7. Is this species endangered or threatened ? I am an endangered specie hwww.youtube.com/watch?v=54_U7n3SgYwttps://

  8. Reproduction information • . M y reproduction is unusual occurring during the larval stage of development.  • I do not metamorphosize out of the larval form into adulthood.  • My sexual maturity usually is between 6 months to a year. • Females often take longer . • My natural breeding season is in the spring. • Male expels between 6 and 30 of these spermatophores around the water in hopes of leading a female over the top of one.  • I can have 400-1000 eggs during spawning.  • Females has the capability to breed several times ,restarting the process after each one.  • After hatching, some of the small axolotls will become a meal for the larger.
