  1. Medieval Games and Recreation By Nick S. & Dylan T. Core 4 

  2. Board Games • In Medieval times people would play simple, yet challenging games to relax. • Some games were Chess, Checkers, Dice, and Backgammon.

  3. Child’s Play • Kids have always played outside. They would play games that involved running around and jumping and just what kids do. • Some games they would play were Prisoner’s Base, Blind Man’s Bluff, Wrestling, and just running around!

  5. Sports • People play sports for fun, money, and just something to do. • Some sports that they played were foot races, gymnastics, swimming, fighting, and a game that was a mix between tennis and handball, Cockfighting, Bull baiting and Archery.

  6. Harvest Time • Around the Harvest times there would be carnivals and festivals held. • Some things they would do is bob for apples, hunt in the surrounding forest (if it was okay with the castle lord). Hawks were trained to hunt game birds and every medieval castle had a falconer, assigned to train young birds for this sport.

  7. Falconer • A Falconer is someone who hunts with Falcons or trains Falcons for hunting.

  8. Holiday Games • Almost everybody does something special during the holidays, especially Christmas. • Medieval Christmas games included "King of the Bean," where a small bean would be baked inside bread or cake, and the one who found it in their portion would be crowned king of the holiday feast.

  9. Sports- Bocce, Bowling, Curling, Pall-Mall. Board Games- Alquerque, Fieges, Fox & Geese, Game of the Goose, Merels, Nyout, Parcheesi, Senet, Tablut, Wari. Card games- All fours, Alouette, As Nas, Basset, Karnoffel, Tarok. Many other Games!

  10. Archery • Archery has been around for a long time. In Medieval Times they would have tournaments. Today archery is mainly for fun and hunting. Other games have evolved from it.

  11. Chess Board • Chess is one of the most popular “Board Games” ever created.
