Ecotone Surfaces • Finally! A Truly Green Product for Cast Polymer, Solid Surface • Post-Consumer Recycled Glass & Renewable Resources • May Be Used with or without Gel Coat • Assists Commercial Builders in LEED® Material and Resource Credits 5.1 and 5.2 • Recent Enhancements • Decrease warping • Improved particle suspension • Improved air release • Improved product flow
Ecotone’s Two Green Options • Recycled versus Renewable Materials • Recycled Content • Post-Consumer • Ecotone uses post-consumer glass • Renewable Content • Made by nature, not in a lab • Ecotone uses post-industrial organic materials in: American Harvest,Nuts About You, and Grown in the USA
Ecotone Surfaces Versatility • Ecotone Used in Undiluted Form or Mixed with Other Products • Mix with Terra Bella, Artistone, and more • Add pigment to colors for custom hues • Experiment to Find Unique System
Ecotone Applications • Variety of Surface Applications Including: • Cast polymer behind gel coat • Vanity decks, vessel bowls, wall panels, tub surrounds, table tops, and other surface designs • Solid surface without gel coat • Any surface that does not allow for gel coat such as kitchen counters, bar counters, table tops and more!
Ecotone in Cast Polymer • Applications with Gel Coat • Addition of bonding agent will create a more durable part • Ecotone passes thermal shock tests* only when bonding agent used • Air release recommended • Organic colors not recommended for areas where water will stand, even with gel coat *Tests performed by Universal Laboratories
Ecotone in Solid Surface • Application without Gel Coat • Bonding agent and air release recommended in such applications • Use of diamond paper for sanding • Sealing surface to fill potential air holes with sealing putty followed by light sanding (220, 300 grit), repeat as necessary
Ecotone Surfaces Product Generals • Eleven Colors Available • Ships in 50 Pound Bags • Uses Typical Cast Polymer Casting Tools • Resin Demands Varies by Color, See Tech Sheet • All Resins Are Different • Resins vary by viscosity, promotion, color, and more; each shop may produce a different look • Colors with bonding agent are more opaque, colors without have fractured look
Ecotone Surfaces • Considerations Before Casting • Flows slower than a typical marble matrix • Requires vibration • Air release is highly recommended • Mechanical movement of matrix on mold may be necessary, consider cement tools for moving matrix • Glass can scratch surfaces – use caution when gel coast is not used
Now What? • Promote Green Parts Made with Ecotone • Be pro-active about talking green to customers • Enhance product labeling with Green content • Advertise on-line in Green product listings • Make Green part of your company branding! • Advertise on literature • Company shirts, pens and other promotional items • Sample boards that highlight green material • The Green Movement is Here to Stay!
