For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! The escalating attempts to REDEFINE Jesus . . . • A revival of Gnosticism - All the talk about the – “Gospel of Phillip”; “Gospel of Thomas”; “Gospel of Truth”; “Gospel of Judas” & others . . . • “The Da Vinci Code” - Dan Brown's best-selling novel which draws on Gnostic writings and modern re-interpretations of those works as well as pseudo history . . . We CAN Trust The Bible!!! • Jesus IS The Son of God - John 1:1,2, 14; 3:34-36; 20:30-31; Col 1:13-22 • God Has Warned that Some Would Deny Christ - Acts 20:28-30; 2 Pet 2:1; 3:1-2 • God has said that there would be doctrines denying the nature and role of Jesus - 1 John 1:1-5; 2:18-19; 22; 4:1-3; 5:20-21 W. 65th St church of Christ / January 21, 2007

The baby Jesus is very popular – Luke 2:1-14 • Jesus was a baby, but he grew up and is Lord of Lord’s & King of Kings! – Is. 9:6; Acts 2:32-36; Rev. 17:14 • Has all authority – Mat 28:18 -20; Col. 1:13-18; 3:17 • Must be obeyed – Phili 2:9-12; Heb 5:8,9; 2 Thes 1:7-9 W. 65th St church of Christ / January 21, 2007

Jesus is popular at “EASTER” • Many gather to observe “communion” only once a year - What about each first day of the week - Acts 20:7 • Many believe that Jesus was in fact raised from the dead – but deny that He is reigning as King – (Zec 6:13; 1 Tim 6:15) • He has ALL authority NOW!!   11. Jesus is popular at “EASTER” • Jesus was raised to sit on David’s throne – (Acts 2:29-33) • We are citizens of His kingdom if we are Christians – (Col. 1:13; Rev 1:9; 5:10) • Requires that we submit to His AUTHORITY in ALL we do!! – (Col. 3:17; Mt 28:18-20; Luke 9:23; Acts 2:42-46 W. 65th St church of Christ / January 21, 2007

  12. Jesus was Compassionate!! – Mk 6:34; Mt 8:1-5; Lk 7:11-13 • We too MUST be loving & compassionate – Luke 10:25; 1 John 3:17 • Some feel that to get upset about doctrinal error & sin & to reject error without com-promise is to be un-Christ like - W. 65th St church of Christ / January 21, 2007

The real Jesus rebuked and condemned sinners and those in error • The Scribes and Pharisees as "hypocrites" "blind guides" a "brood of vipers" "whited sepulchers full of dead men's bones.“ – (Mat 23) • Jesus taught confrontation - (Mt. 18:15-18). • Peter, “Get thee behind me, Satan” (Mt. 16:23). • 19 “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. The real Jesus rebuked and condemned sinners and those in error • Stephen rebuked the Jews (Acts 7). • Peter strongly rebuked Simon (Acts 8). • Paul rebuked Peter before all (Gal. 2:11-14). • “Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear" (1 Tim. 5:20; • Reprove, rebuke, exhort – (2 Tim 4:2; Tit. 2:15). • “If you confess your sins . . .” – (1 John 1:7-10) W. 65th St church of Christ / January 21, 2007
