  3. Purpose To make a difference in the lives of young girls living in Qatar by educating, inspiring and motivating them for a life of healthy living.

  4. Goals • Provide information • Increase understanding of nutrition • Encourage exercise • Develop confidence

  5. Vision • To see as many schools as possible running the Girls on the Go, Qatar program. • Pass the program off to the teachers so that it will continue and become an integral part of the school.

Core Values Girls on the Go, Qatar honors its core values:  • We are honest • We maintain balance in our lives • We seek the positive in life’s challenges • We live our lives with gratitude • We positively assert ourselves • We make our best effort always • We strive to improve our self-awareness

  7. The Program • Girls on the Go. Qatar is a positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum with exercise to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in preteen girls. • Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. • Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors

Program Design • The program curricula teaches life skills through group discussions, games and fitness workouts. • The curriculum is divided into three sections and is taught by trained Girls on the Go, Qatar volunteer coaches. • At each season’s conclusion, the girls complete presentation event as a group

  12. Seasonal Programming Girls on the Go, Qatar sessions are offered in the fall, spring and a short session in the summer months.

  13. The Pilot • When: June 15-July 10 • How long: 4 weeks • Where: QF Rec Center • Who: Daughters of Vodafone • Presentation of learning outcomes: -Short presentation put on by the girls to show results of the program.

  14. Girls acquire… • Knowledge gained in 8-one hour sessions to last a lifetime. • A jump rope, a pedometer, a Frisbee, a water bottle, a Girls on the Go! T-shirt, and Healthy Lifestyles Journal • Confidence and Friendships!
