  2. Dragon and Princess Story Students in class are currently hard at work on an imaginative story! They were given an image of a princess and a dragon and asked to complete a plan for the story for homework. Students are currently on the second draft of the story and so far the results are amazing! Stay posted for images of their good copies when they are ready!

  3. Mathematics Using Estimation • Students this month have been hard at work in deepening their understanding of estimation • So far the results are promising, most students have a firm grasp of front-end estimation • However, many students do need to brush up on estimating to the nearest tens • 124 rounded to the nearest tens would become 120 • 125 rounded to the nearest tens would become 130 • Notice how the two are different; remember when we round to up the next door neighbour digit needs to be five or over five.

  4. October Art • Stay tuned for samples of the students artwork • This month we will be making our fall trees • Please find the pictures in the appendix • In addition we will also be decorating our doors for Halloween!

  5. Social Studies Students have been studying mapping this month and in September We have learned a lot about legend, compasses so far Students have completed maps of the classroom and their bedrooms

  6. Science • Grade 4A has been hard at work in furthering their understanding of weather and its related phenomenon • Students have a good understanding of the water cycle • In class we have been completing experiments about the water cycle, condensation and frost. • Below are some images of the types of experiments we have completed Here we lowered the melting temperature of ice to create an environment inside the can that was below 0∙ Celsius. This caused ice to form on the can in a similar way as illustrated in the picture
