May13-18 Client: Dr. Aliprantis Testing Product • Surveyed students in the ECpE Department (EE, CprE, SE) • The students interacted with the iPad on their own and took a survey with questions such as their opinion on: • Font • Size of font • Color on the different elements • Equation display • Pictures • Which interactive feature they found useful?
Technical Challenges • Software Consideration • Difficulties: • Design platform with minimal coding • Solution: • Sigil and iBook Author are the two best design software that we found. However iBook's Author is our best bet since it has a better user interface.
Technical Challenges • Creating a consistent template for iBooksAuthor • Difficulties: • Landscape and portrait template will not change simultaneously with one another • Position of elements will not fit every purpose • Solution: • Make modification on both landscape and portrait format • Create a template • Format the media placeholders so that they wont interfere with texts on the page
Technical Challenges • Interactive way to present solution • Difficulties • iBook's Author does not allow us to embed solution for each problem • No logic mechanism where we can restrict the user from accessing the next question • Solution • Embed a keynote presentation file into the book • Omit the logic mechanism and use a step-by-step solution would be a better approach to guide the student through the problems
Technical Challenges • Taking full advantage of widgets • Difficulties • Need access to different software. • Need to excellent coding skill. • Solution • Use widgets that we need the most. • Focus more on certain widgets.
