Reflecting on treasured childhood memories as an elementary school reader, I recall the joy of diving into Richard Scarry's vibrant world with Lowly Worm and Huckle the Cat. Mercer Mayer's Little Critter series remains a special connection with my mom, especially "All By Myself" and "Me Too!" Roald Dahl's captivating tales, like "Matilda" and "The Witches," introduced me to unique characters and extraordinary situations. Mrs. Pirc, my third-grade teacher, made Dahl's stories come alive, igniting my love for reading that still enriches my life today.

Busytown I remember having LOTS of Richard Scarry books, and even though I don’t remember too much about them, I do remember Lowly Worm and his hat as well as his friend, Huckle the Cat. My parents used to read these to me.
Little Critter One of my favorite characters was Little Critter from the Mercer Mayer series. I would read these books with my mom all the time, and I think we still have them on a bookshelf at home. In particular I remember All By Myselfand Me Too! because the first was about wanting to be independent and the other about an irritating sibling.
The BFG Matilda Roald Dahl I loved Roald Dahl books and devoured them. I remember my third grade teacher, Mrs. Pirc, reading Matilda to the class. She was such a different girl, and I think that’s what stands out about a lot of his characters – they are uncommon people in ridiculous situations, but at the same time, aspects of them are relatable.
