1. PLANT TISSUES

2. Tissue: • A tissue is an ensemble of similar cells from the same origin that together carry out a specific function Cellstissues form to

3. Plant Tissues We are going to focus on Angiosperms. In general, they have 4 types of tissues; • Meristem tissue • Ground tissue • Vascular tissue • Dermal tissue

4. Meristem Tissue • Meristem tissue are found in growth regions of plants. • They could be divided. They occur mitotic division during the their life. • They could be formed new cells. • They have a capability of occuring various tissues. • Solet’s say; • There are 3 types of tissue which all derive from meristematic tissue; • Dermal tissue • Ground tissue • Vascular tissue

7. Dermal Tissue • The dermal tissue system protects the soft tissues of plants and controls interactions with the plants' surroundings. • It can be thought of as the plant's "skin." • The epidermis is a dermal tissue that is usually a single layer of cells covering plants' leaves, flowers, roots and stems.

9. Dermal tissue can be differentiate into specialized formation. These are; Hydathode Trichome Thorns Stomata

10. Hydathode; • Hydathode is the pore that provide disposing of the excess water as the liquid • when there is no sweats at nightor when the air is saturated with moisture.

11. Trichome; • They play a role in protecting the plant from predators and the disease‐causing organisms they carry (Glover,1990).

12. Thorn; • They with the function of mechanically deterring herbivory.

13. Stomata; • Stomatal guard cells are essential to keep one particular component inside the plant—water. However, they must also allow the gaseous exchange essential for photosynthetic activity (Glover,1990).

16. Ground tissue • The ground tissue of plants can be divided into three classes; • Parenchyma Located in every organ of the plant Storage of food and water, ventilation among of tissues • Collenchyma mechanical support • Sclerenchyma thick cell wall, mechanical support

17. The ground tissues of plants could be seen whole parts of plants. They provide structural support.

18. Vascular tissue Vascular tissues include the xylem and phloem, both of which are conductive tissues. They perform transportation of water and minerals in plants.

19. Xylem ; • They carry water and minerals from root to top of plants • They occur with dead cells • They are composed many cell types.Tracheids and vessel elements largely involved in water and mineral.

20. Phloem; • Phloem is the living tissue • Phloem carries organic nutrients such as sucroseto all parts of the plant where needed. • The movement of organic molecules in plants is called translocation.
