  2. Introduction Human trafficking is a serious problem that often goes unreported.  Oftentimes, it affects the most vulnerable in our society, which are our children. Usually, children are forced into becoming sex slaves because of poverty.  They are abused mentally, physically, and intellectually. These children often carry the burden of abuse into adulthood.  Laws, in most countries, often fail to protect children from being forced into the sex slave trade industry and treat them like criminals and vagabonds when they are reintegrated into society. Still, there is hope. For example, the U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005 promises to aggressively pursue and punish human traffickers globally.

  3. Task • Your task is to obtain historical facts about Nepal and to investigate human trafficking (i.e.: sex slave trade industry). In addition, you will discover which group(s) are most affected and why.  You will also learn about what measures are in place to protect the victims.  As you begin your research, please think about these key questions:
