  3. Spring Students Must be currently registered in all classes needed to graduate at the end of spring quarter. Summer Students Must be currently registered for all summer classes needed to graduate at the end of summer quarter. Requirements All Students: *Must meet GPA requirements to participate *Must have ordered a cap and gown *Must have already submitted course substitutions to the Registrar’s Office DEADLINE TO MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS WAS MAY 6, 2011

Women Dress or business attire Low heeled shoes Men Dark dress slacks White or light shirt Tie (not required) Dark colored dress shoes What to Wear *Women may also want to bring bobby pins to secure the cap to hair. *You may want to bring a safety pin to pin your hood to your gown. *Try to wear cool and comfortable clothing

Cap & Gowns • You must have a cap, gown, stole, hood, and tassel to participate in the commencement ceremony! • Last chance to purchase a cap and gown will be June 3rd at the commencement ceremony rehearsal. • Only cash will be accepted at that time and the price will be $100. ( No guarantee of sizes available)

  6. Graduation Attire • Graduate Students will have a Master’s gown Hood & tassel with school color, gold stole, and cord to designate degree. MFA – Gold MARCH – Lilac MA – White • Undergraduate students will have Bachelor’s gown, hood & tassel with school color, gold stole and if honors, a gold tassel.

  7. Rehearsal Day, June 3, 2011Savannah Civic CenterMandatory 2 – 4 p.m. • Herff Jones Representatives will be selling cap and gowns-cash only! Arrive early if you need one. • PLEASE Arrive at 1:30 p.m. and get seated. Starts promptly at 2 p.m. Line Leaders will direct you to your seats. • Your cap and gown will be on your seat. A card will be stapled inside the gown with your name. DO NOT REMOVE THIS CARD. • A pronunciation table will be available to ensure your name is said correctly • Graduation Auditors will be available before the rehearsal to answer questions.

  8. Commencement MorningJune 4th, 2011 • 7:30 a.m. -arrive at Civic Center for line up in the Johnny Mercer Theater. Enter from the Montgomery Street side and look for signs directing you. • Please arrive wearing your cap and gown with card attached to inside! • Please check all purses and bags in the lobby. You may not carry anything with you during procession, this will be enforced • Please make sure all cell phones are off or muted • IMPORTANT – Eat something before you arrive. Food is not available or allowed in JMT

  9. Name Cards for Presentation of Degree Ceremony • Name cards will be stapled to the inside of your gown when you pick it up. These are used to scan your name so it will be shown on the screens in the MLK arena as you walk across the stage. It also has your row and seat number for the 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. ceremony. • Please do not fold, tear, chew on or write on. They will not scan if you do! • DO NOT lose your card. Leave them stapled to the inside of your gown if possible.

  10. MLK 9 a.m. Conferment of Degrees Ceremony • All students must attend the 9 a.m. ceremony to participate in their afternoon ceremony • Follow your line leaders into the arena. You will be seated randomly by DEGREE in rows of 20, not as you were at the rehearsal. • You will receive a program on your chair • President Wallace will confer the degrees in blocks. MARCH, MUD, MFA, MAT, MA, BFA, BA will all be called separately. You will stand when your degree is called.

MLK 9 a.m. Conferment of Degrees Ceremony cont. • All students will recess out after the 9 a.m. ceremony • The recession will start with the Board of Trustees, guest speaker, faculty, then students. Please stand when the recession begins. • All Students will recess up the middle aisle and will exit to the left. There will be signs directing you outside to meet your families. Please don’t stop right outside the exit. Plan to meet your family in a designated area outside. • Please move out as quickly as you can.

  13. No food allowed in venues Nothing can be carried into the 9am ceremony Eat before you come Wear proper attire No shoes, no shirt=NO ceremony! Must attend the 9 a.m. ceremony to participate in the afternoon ceremonies Anyone under the influence will be removed Ceremony Reminders

MLK 1 p.m. Ceremony • Participants: • School of Building Arts • School of Film and Digital Media • School of Liberal Arts • At 12:30 p.m. enter the Civic Center through the lobby. • Locate your chair, using your card, and have a seat. Line Leaders will be available to assist you. • After the ceremony, you will recess down the center aislesthe same as in the 9 a.m. ceremony.

  15. Participants: School of Communication Arts School of Design School of Fashion School of Fine Arts At 3:30 p.m.enter the Civic Center through the lobby. Locate your chair, using your card, and have a seat. Line Leaders will be there to assist you. After the ceremony, you will recess down the center aisles the same as in the 9 a.m. ceremony. Plan a meeting place with your parents outside. MLK 4 p.m. Ceremony

  16. Ceremony Ticket Information • All guests attending the commencement ceremonies will need a ticket (children under the age of two who sit on the lap of a ticket holder will not require a ticket). • Each student approved to participate will receive 4 tickets for the 9 a.m. Presidential Conferment of Degree ceremony (yellow ticket) and 7 tickets for their Presentation of Degree ceremony at either 1 p.m. (red ticket) or 4 p.m. (blue ticket).  • A live simulcast of all the ceremonies will be available to accommodate your guests that didn’t have tickets in the Johnny Mercer Theater, located inside the Savannah Civic Center. The simulcast ceremonies do not require a ticket.  • Also, all ceremonies will be viewable online at scad.tv/<http://www.scad.tv/

  17. Tickets (con’t.) • Pick up tickets May 23rd through June 2ndat the Trustees Theater, Monday through Friday, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. • Only students who are not currently in Savannah will be allowed to pick up tickets after the rehearsal on June 3rd. No one will receive tickets until the Rehearsal is over. • There is no charge for tickets!If you are caught selling or buying tickets, you will lose your tickets and will be removed from the ceremony. • You must pick up your own tickets and show your SCAD ID.

New Alumni Concert The concert will begin at 6 p.m., June 3rd in Forsyth Park 6– 7 p.m. – DJ Javier 7 – 8 p.m. – The Dirty Guv’nahs 8 – 9:30 p.m. – Cold War Kids Bus transportation will loop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from Civic Center to Forsyth Park. Will stop on Drayton and Hall streets. At 9:30 p.m. the bus will transport back to Civic Center.

  25. A Word to the Wise • Make sure your guests arrive at the ceremony as early as they can. Doors open at 8 a.m. for the 9 a.m. ceremony • Ask your guests to sit next to one another without leaving empty seats in between • Do NOT iron your cap or gown! • EAT something before arriving at 7:30 a.m. • Enjoy your day. You have earned it!
