  6. When is CS 02.05 Being Released?

Release of CS 02.05 • August 2013: Beta Release • Vendors will get Beta version of DLL in August • Vendor Webinar will be held by September • October 2013: Production Release • Vendors will get the final production release • January 1, 2014: Effective Date • For all cases diagnosed starting 1/1/2014 • Registrars contact vendor for deployment date

  9. What Is Different? Not Much Has Changed • No new codes added • No codes obsoleted • Mostly notes and explanations added

Version 02.04 Version 02.05 No traditional conversion program to run on data 50% reduction in items for manual review Standardization of Coding Instructions Identified and formalized list of Non-Required SSFs • Conversion Program run on data • Manual Review Required for a few items • Multiple distribution methods of Coding Instructions • Robust SSFs collection ability and support

Improving CS for the Registrars Registrars spoke, CS listened • CAnswer Forum and Reliability Study • Heard CS users overwhelmed with number of fields • CS structure allows collection of every SSF • Some SSFs were for 7th Edition Cancer Staging Manual and not involved in calculation of CS • Confusing for registrars on fields that need to be collected

Enhancement for CS 02.05 • CS identified and formalized list of Non-Required SSFs • SSFs that have never been required by any Standard Setter • Created Database for vendors • Standard Setter SSF collection requirements • Vendors able to provide simplified display • Reduce the burden of Collaborative Stage data collection on cancer registrars • Sunset of support for Non-Required SSF

  14. Non-Required SSFs in 02.05 • Full details will be announced in coming days • Will NOT affect existing data • Facilities can still collect Non-Required SSFs in CS 02.05 DLL structures • All SSFs will remain in the DLL and in NAACCR record

  15. Criteria for Non-Required SSFs SSFs that are not included in the Calculation of Stage AND That are not required by any of the Standard Setters
