8th Grade ELA Expectations: A Guide to Success for Mrs. Chapman's Class

Welcome to Mrs. Chapman's 8th Grade English Language Arts! Our focus this year is on engaging with nonfiction and informational texts while developing crucial reading and writing skills. Students will participate in read-aloud sessions to enhance fluency, explore poetry, and dive into a variety of stories and narratives, including classics like "Harriet Tubman," "The Pearl," and "The Outsiders." Writing assignments will cover persuasive writing, memoirs, and narratives, with emphasis on mechanics and editing. For any questions or support regarding homework or preparation, please reach out!
