Hardware and beam commissioning after LS2 • Contribution 1: Introduction • Review of 2018 BCWG activities and achievements • Outline for activities in 2019/20 • Activity organisation/structure and responsibilities (organigram, …) • Introduce different commissioning phases (dry runs, hardware commissioning, check-out, beam commissioning)  • Contribution 2: Hardware commissioning • Addressing HWC across the injectors • Strategy, Planning, check lists, modifications and verification of available tools • Outline IST during hardware commissioning per machine  • Define required status of controls and applications for HWC • Identify potential unknowns or issues

Hardware and beam commissioning after LS2 • Contribution 3: Readiness of RF equipment • Planning from IST to cold checkout across the injectors with special focus on the SPS • Also mention strategy for LINAC3 • Lessons learnt from Linac4 integration • Define time line for dry runs • Addressing settings management and required tools (including requirements and timeline for new developments) • Planning of slip stacking commissioning • Contribution 4: Operating the injector complex after LS2 • Requirements to improve and facilitate operation after LS2 • From an operational but also controls point of view • Bringing the physics into the control system (settings management, improved LSA-tools interface, optics integration, …) • Timing system (cycle and sequence management) • Establishment of a common body/forum to align concepts and strategies among the injectors • Extended implementation of optimisation and machine learning tools

Hardware and beam commissioning after LS2 • Contribution 5: Linac4 and LBE line commissioning • Planning and goals • Requirements in terms of controls, timing, RF, … • Requirements in terms of applications, implementation of optimization/machine learning tools • Pre-tests for connection • Contribution 6: Beam commissioning - strategy  • Global planning to achieve LIU parameters • Strategy across machines for follow-up and performance tracking • Common scheduling strategies between injectors and LHC, LIU MDs • Definition of setting up strategies • Commissioning of beam instrumentation (wire scanners, ALPS, BGI, …) • Additional manpower requirements • Required tools for performance monitoring
