  26. When selecting more than one choice at a college or university, the order of your choices can matter. • They tend to exhaust one selection before they move to the next. • Portfolio requirements slow down the process. • Verify which universities will make alternate offers.

  44. Residence • Generally first year students are given priority; marks may be a factor in guaranteeing a spot • Meal plans are mandatory at some institutions • Costs vary: $8K to $18K depending on the plan (depending on meal plan)

  46. Scholarships • Write your draft letter now. • Identify who you are. They want a good story. They need a reason to give money to you. • Adapt your letter to the scholarship you are seeking. • Most scholarships go untouched.   47. Letters of reference • Ask for these at least 1 month in advance. • Give your referee information: • Spell out your name • The name of the scholarship • The scholarship criteria • A brief list of your accomplishments. • A thank you.
