ePrescriptions - objective • Establish a national, fully electronic information chain for prescription drugs and medical supplies • Encompass the Norwegian Medicines Agency, the doctors, the pharmacies and the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Organisation (NAV) • The programme is led by The Directorate of Health and Social affairs, but is owned by the Ministry of Health
Goals • improving the quality of the prescription chain - improving the quality of the prescriptions • reducing the error rate and improving the availability of prescription drugs - improving health of the population • provide NAV with electronic documentation as a base for the payment of refunds to pharmacies in connection with reimbursable prescriptions • strengthen the infrastructure for the exchange of electronic messages in the health sector, and stimulate wider use of PKI-based security mechanisms.
Status • Legal regulation was adopted in the end of last year • Ongoing systems development • The solutions are being tested amongst the participants • Total test of the solution as a whole primo December 2007 • A second version of the solution is currently being developed • Pilot starts spring 2008. First small scale, then increasing throughout the pilot period; 1 year – expanding with version 2 functionality late this year • The hospitals are being included later on; pilot - end of this year • • National launch starting mid 2009 and going on 2010 • Goal: 80 percent of all prescriptions electronic by 2011
