Important Updates: DOJ Hiring Timeline and Application Deadlines for 2008

The Department of Justice has announced significant changes for its 2008 hiring timeline. Major updates include an earlier application deadline of September 2, 2008. Applicants will also receive earlier notifications for interview selections and a shorter Honors Program interview period. First-round offers will be issued by late October. Students can apply to the Attorney General’s Honors Program starting July 25, either before the end of their 3L year or internship. The Summer Law Intern Program is also open from July 25, and it offers compensated positions for rising students.

  1. NEWS FLASH FROM DOJ! • BIG changes for 2008! • NEW HIRING TIMELINE!

  2. STRIKE WHILE IT’S HOT! • Earlier application deadline – now Sept. 2, 2008. • Earlier notice of selection for interviews. • Earlier (and shorter) Honors Program interview period. • Earlier offers – first round offers issued by late October.

  3. The Attorney General’s Honors Program • Applications open July 25th. • Apply at or before the start of your 3L year or in the fall before your clerkship, fellowship, or LL.M program ends! • Entry-level attorney positions for graduating 3Ls, judicial clerks, and Presidential Management Fellows, and other legal fellows. • Details on the web at www.usdoj.gov/oarm.

  4. Summer Law Intern Program • Applications open July 25th. • Generally, apply at or before the start of your second year. • Compensated positions, generally between the second and third year of law school. • Special provisions for joint-degree students and graduating 3Ls entering clerkships. • Details on the web at www.usdoj.gov/oarm.
