  1. The social impacts of the use of IT

  2. Local community Employers (people who own a business or organisation) - Advantages The advantages for employers in the local community are that they will have more employees working at home for them. The employers don’t need to provide space for the employees as they will have their own space at home and also no office space is needed. By working from home the advantages for the employers are that they don’t need to provide any bills because no electricity will be used in the office as they will be no workers in the office. Disadvantages The disadvantages of working at home for employers are that they can’t watch the employees every moment of their day. The company moral may be low because everyone will work from their houses. They will also be poor communication in the working industry this is because not everyone will know each other so they won’t communicate with one another. They will also be fewer ideas generated in the working industry as people won’t see each other face to face so they can’t share their ideas.

  3. Employees ( people who work for a business or organisation)- Advantages The advantages for people who work from home are that they won't have much traffic problems because they will only go upstairs or outside depending on what part of their house they will work in. It will also save them from travelling. On the other hand they will also be able to work flexible hours as they can also interact with their children and keep an eye on them while they are working. Disadvantages The disadvantages are that the parents will get distracted by others or their kids if they are working from home. They will also be distracted by other jobs that till will have going on in their houses such as if they have little kids they will have to look after them and get them dressed and bathed. Also they will have to do housework where they can be distracted as well. In the local community if people don’t go out to the local shops they will be shops that will be closing down because no one will go. The people that live in the local community won’t be able to communicate and socialise with other people as they will stay indoors and if the shops are closed they won’t be anywhere to go to communicate with some one.

  4. Availability in jobs Advantage 1 – Concerned with efficiency, output and cost The advantages of using a robot to make sandwiches are that it will be quick and fast to produce the sandwiches. It will also be cheaper to run, it will more reliable because it can produce more products and also a human might not be reliable while they are making sandwiches because they can spread germs. It can also produce more than humans and also it can run as much as you want it to run because it won’t get tired as the humans will. Advantage 2 – concerned with the quality that can be achieved by the robot A robot will be more consistence while they are producing sandwiches because they will have the right amount of ingredients that will be put in the sandwich. A robot can also produce faster and better products than humans. A robot will be more hygienic and also they will produce high quality food. Advantage 3 – Concerned with length of time that robots can work Robots can work much longer than a human can, they wont get tired quickly like humans will. They don’t need to have days off as humans can get ill and they will need days off. On the other hand robots don’t also need to have any toilet breaks so they can work for a long time.

  5. Availability in jobs The disadvantages of having a robot – The disadvantages are that if the robot breaks down they will need a mechanic to fix it which can delay the work as it might take a long time to fix the robot. If the robot breaks down no sandwiches will be made, the company will lose money because if the robot doesn’t work the humans will have to work so they might delay the work as it will take longer for them to make the sandwiches. The ingredients in the robot will go to waste if the robot breaks down. The mechanics will have to be paid if the robot needs to be fixed. If the robot needs to change ingredients it will make it more complex to change ingredients and it will take a long time to change it. The disadvantages for the workers are that if robots were bought into a company it will make the workers loose their job so if the robot breaks down they won’t be many workers working for the company as they might have other jobs and left this job. If robots are bought into a company they will need more workers to do the job because to make the robot work they will need to change the ingredients and also when the ingredients are finished they will need to put more in. Some people might not like this job so it limits their availability in jobs and they might not have great experience in the job they are told to do.

  6. Inequality in broadband access Advantages of internet shopping The advantages of internet shopping are that they is a wider range of choice and you can also get whatever you want because if you go into the store they might be out of stock so it will be easier to order on the internet. Also on the internet you can see the reviews of the product because some people leave the review of the product if they have bought it. If you do shopping online you will also save time from travelling and going into the local shops to buy it. On the internet you can view more products and also you can shop anytime you want on the internet. Disadvantages of internet shopping The disadvantages of internet shopping is that it will be too complicated for some people, they might also not have the skills they need or might not know how to use the internet. They might be worried about other people getting their personal information and it might take longer to deliver. Some people might find it easier to shop in stores rather than shopping online. If people start shopping online they will lose costumers and workers that come to the store. On the other hand business in town will suffer because no one will come to town to but products and they will by products of the internet. The jobs might be available for the people but some people might not want to take the job because not many costumers will be shopping from the store.

  7. Potential threats of using IT Virus - A virus is a computer programme that is designed to spread from a computer to a computer. Many are harmless but others can be very damaging. Cyber bullying – A form of intimidating or making someone feel bad about themselves, using the Internet (often social networking sites) or using other technology like mobile phones. Spam – Mass emails often sent out by companies trying to sell a product. Emails are sent to people who have not requested the information. Phishing – Emails which appear to be from a company (often banks) requesting login details from customers. When customers respond, the email is sent to a criminal Denial of service – Bombarding a web server with so many requests that the server can’t cope and has to shut down.
