  7. American Mobilizes • Selective Service Act - all men between 21 and 30 must register with armed services • June 1917- 2.2 million men drafted • Mass Production- shifting use

  8. Minority Fighters • 370,000 African Americans were trained but ¾ worked as laborers not soldiers in segregated units • 235,000 Puerto Ricans were drafted or enlisted
