  2. Serbia – the nation blamed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. • Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were murdered by GavriloPrincip – a member of the Black Hand, a Serbian terrorist group – in Sarajevo in 1914. • Austria-Hungary blamed all of Serbia for the assassination.
