  2. Each section has 3 questions • 2 are 10 markers • 1 is a 15 – the fieldwork & research qn • You only have 30 mins max to do these • Spend 7 mins on the 10 mark qs • Which leaves 16 for the 15 mark one • You don’t need to fill all the spaces on the paper!

  3. Question styles • One 10 marker will be based on a resource • The other won’t be! • Examples of resources follow:

  4. (b) Study Figure 3 which shows part of a student’s investigation of deprivation and environmental quality in a city. Comment on the limitations of the data collection and presentation methods. (10)

  5. Study the materials on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. (a) Describe how physical and economic factors may have made The Sunshine Coast in Queensland a crowded coast. Tourist attractions in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland.

  6. Examples of non resource based questions • (b) Using named examples, examine the environmental costs of coastal development such as those shown in Queensland. (10) • For a stretch of coastline you have studied, discuss the strengths and weaknesses of various coastal management strategies. (10)

  7. Fieldwork & research Qs 1 you must mention something relevant from your fieldwork 2 you must mention some research – a web page is ideal 3 you must mention a GIS – eg Google Earth is fine 4 know the difference between quantitative and qualitative fieldwork (and use those words!)

  8. Examples of F & R qs • Describe and explain a programme of fieldwork and research you would use to investigate the impacts of either intensive human useORcoastal erosionalong a stretch of coastline. (15) • Describe and explain a programme of fieldwork and research you would use to investigate the growth of a coastal resort (15) • Describe the results of your fieldwork and research into urban rebranding, and explain how these help you to judge the success of the schemes involved. (15)
