  1. BALTIMORE COUNTY FIRE-RESCUE ACADEMY Stryker Equipment

  2. Objectives • To ensure each member is aware of the responsibility for the inspection and maintenance of all Stryker equipment in accordance with manufacture recommendations. • To provide detailed guidance for the inspection, maintenance and cleaning of all Stryker equipment.

  3. Policies and Procedures • Stryker Equipment Operations Manual • Stryker Equipment Maintenance Manual • SOP- 600-11: Inventory, Inspection and Maintenance of Medic Units and EMS Vehicles

  4. Repair Request • Be specific and detailed in your comments for fire maintenance. Please ensure all the required information is filled out appropriately.

  5. Stryker Repair Request • Reminder: All manual stretchers and ALL stair chairs regardless of manufacturer are to be tagged. • Once an item has a completed tag attached to the equipment these tagged items are sent to Fire Supply

  6. Service Repairs Reporting Power Load System Load system (# 38100 / ML-38100) – to be used when reporting a problem with the trolley load system. This should be marked “URGENT” and followed up with a phone call to FM-1.

  7. Continued Power Pro XT Stretcher Power Stretcher (#38121 / ML-38121) - to be used when reporting a problem with the power stretcher only. This should also be marked “URGENT” and followed up with a phone call to FM-1

  8. Stretcher Inspection • All fasteners secure • All welds intact, not cracked or broken • No bent or broken tubing or sheet metal • No debris in wheels • All wheels secure, rolling and swiveling properly • Wheel Lock holds wheel securely

  9. Stretcher Inspection (cont.) • Wheel Lock does not contact wheel when off • Side rails move and latch properly • Backrest operates smoothly and properly • Height positioning latch functioning properly (Manual Stretcher) • Cot secure in each height position (Manual Stretcher)

  10. Stretcher Inspection (cont.) Breakaway head section operates properly Safety bar operates properly Foot rest operating properly No tears, punctures or cracks in mattress pad Undercarriage folds properly

  11. Stretcher Inspection (cont.) Body restraints intact and working properly Safety Latch on Medic secure Stretcher loading device operates properly Power supply/battery operates properly

  12. Stretcher Inspection (cont.) Safely inspect the stretcher and its operating parts Locate and document Stretcher Serial Number

  13. Operations Please be patient when operating stretcher with the loading system. Prior to pulling the stretcher out, allow the system to wake up and lift the stretcher into position

  14. Policy Guidance All stretchers shall be inspected, cleaned and lubricated, in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. All stretchers in need of repair shall be “tagged” and sent to the supply depot for repairs. A detailed description that outlines the problem or area needing repair shall accompany the stretcher.

  17. Troubleshooting Power Load Obstructions in the loading system tracks can cause stretcher to lock up. Be sure to sweep out unit and clear debris around track Excessive dirt present in the loading system. Wipe down and clear out system regularly. Mishandling or abuse of the stretcher when loading can cause damage to the system. Careful and correct handling can prolong systems life.

  19. Troubleshooting • Stretcher becomes stuck in a specific position. • Ensure legs of stretcher are clear of debris. • Make sure the stretcher and load system are properly engaged. • Rear wheel of the stretcher are not making contact with the ground. • Utilize functions on the side of load system to angle the stretcher.

  20. Steer Lock System This system helps reduce the effort needed to maneuver the cot and maximize steering control. (Currently being tested on M10 and M17 only) Additional Information can be found below: Stryker Steer Lock System
