  4. Addition and Subtraction Terms • An augend and an addend are added to find the sum. • A subtrahend is subtracted from the minuend to find the difference.

Jelly Bean Activity(TAKE AWAY METHOD) • Find a partner ( Student #1 and #2) • Sit quietly until the teacher gives you 10 colorful jelly beans. • Place 10 jelly beans on napkin. • Eat 3 jelly beans Student #1. Swallow. How many jelly beans do you have left on your napkin Student #1? • Eat 5 jelly means Student #2. Swallow. How many jelly beans do you have left on your napkin Student #2? • Then eat the rest of your jelly beans! ENJOY!
