  4. Champlain was a French navigator who mapped most of the Northeastern part of North America.

  5. He discovered the lake later named after him in 1609.

  6. Francois Grove de Pont’s, and Champlain explored the Gaspe Peninsula.

  7. Then down the Coast of Cape Cod.

  8. Champlain led 32 colonists to Quebec.

  9. Only nine survived the first bitter winter in Quebec.

  10. Champlain died of a stroke on December 25,1635 in France.
