  1. Hero\ Villain Project Ulysses S. Grant

  2. Biography • Ulysses S. Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio, April 27, 1822. His parents were Jesse and Hannah Grant. He married Julia Boggs Dent, and then had 4 children. He graduated The United States Military Academy of West Point. He then served in the Mexican American war as a soldier.

  3. Most Prominent Military Act • The Overland Campaign- This was a very good (but bloody) strategy where Grant’s men would keep attacking the South, no matter how hungry or wounded they were. This effectively ended the American Civil War. It made General Lee surrender to stop the killing.

  4. Grant’s Characteristics -He was very modest -A leader -Smart -Confident (A bit to much, almost cocky)

  5. Some Facts • He was the 18th president of the United States. • When the Civil war began, Grant was a Colonel • He fought in 13 battles. (6 from the Mexican-American war, 7 from the American Civil War) • Under his presidency, African Americans got the right to vote.

  6. Grants Impact on the World • First of all, he basically ended the Civil War, which means that he healed the split in the country. Then he became the president of the United States and got the African Americans the right to vote, so In my book, he had a pretty lasting impact.
