  8. Major River Systems • There are 3 major river systems in South Asia. • Indus River • Brahmaputra River • Ganges River

  9. Indus River • Flows mainly through Pakistan • Important mode of transportation for the region

  10. Brahmaputra River • Provides Bangladesh with 50% of its power

  11. Ganges River • Named after Hindu Goddess Ganga • Hindu people view it as a sacred place

  15. South Asia’s Climate • Tropical Climate -West Coast of India and Sri Lanka. • Highlands - much cooler climate close to mountain ranges. • Dry Climate - “The Great Indian Desert”
