  2. Acrimonious . • angry and bitter • The conversation between Laura and Matt was acrimonious.

  3. Smugness • An often unjustified feeling of being pleased with oneself or one’s achievements. • The player’s smugness about his accomplishments made him annoying to listen to. You almost wanted him to fail.

  4. Corroborate • To confirm or give support to a statement, theory, or finding; to back up. • The evidence did not corroborate her story.

  5. Irrelevant Unrelated, unimportant, or not relevant. His comment had nothing to do with the conversation, which made it irrelevant.

  6. Contort Twist or bend out of its normal shape; to distort My face contorted in pain.

  7. Constitute Made up. Composed of. Be a part of a whole. Lettuce, tomato and avocado constituted the salad.

  8. Serene Calm, peaceful, or unruffled. He had a serene smile that put the crowd at ease.
