  2. Cultural Allusions • A cultural allusion is referencing something happening in pop culture at the time of the blog. • It is a type of analogy, metaphor, or simile depending on how it is written or referenced. • Example, comparing something to a Kardashianwedding, etc.

  3. Word Play • Adding in literary sound devices such as: • Alliteration: repetition of beginning sounds • “Coach Cal’s Cats” or “David Stern’s stumble” • Assonance: repetition of vowel sounds • “How the mighty do tire” or “fake players of the game” • Rhyme: words with same sounds • Puns: a play on words using an implied meaning. • “I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.”

  4. Anecdote • An anecdote is a short story about one’s personal experience that relates to another topic. • Usually written as a flashback with commentary.

  5. Relevant Quotations • A relevant quotation is a quotation taken out of context and applied to your blog. • It is a quotation that has meaning outside your blog. • Usually research to find these. • Not taken from an interview with whomever your blog is about. • Example: Teamwork divides the task and doubles the success.
