  2. The Thrills and Chills of Roller Coasters • Millions of people ride roller coasters each year • Roller coasters are the staple at most theme parks, providing the most enjoyment for the people and income for the park • All people, usually ranging from age 5-60, enjoy roller coasters

The History of the Roller Coaster • First roller coaster was built in Paris in 1812 called The Russian Mountains of Belleville • It was built as a new kind of fun • The first roller coaster in the U.S. was the Mauch Chunk Railway in PA • John Miller introduced the first under friction roller coaster in 1912
