CONCEPT STATEMENT THEORETICAL • The primary architectural concept was to develop a dynamic and new facility which balances the residential and medical program to create harmonious and therapeutic experience for the occupant. Initially, a clear and comfortable separation of public, private, and residential zones was addressed, however, the primary motivation was to create a community oriented residential environment which was sustainable and handicapped accessible in nature. Through the use of indoor and outdoor public recreational spaces, social networking and interaction between neighbors would be initiated, advocated and supported. • Architectural cues from downtown Wellsville were applied to the exterior of the building with a contemporary flare. The large geometric glazing system gives an airy and open quality to the circulation spaces. The system serves as a modern connecting element to the three detached, more traditional building masses. The given setbacks and building heights of Main Street were respected within the more traditional building masses, however, the glazing system is the modern, hierarchical element, which is pressed up against the building adjacent to our given lot. The major building form is two stories, in relation to the two story structure next door. A gesture towards a three story building on the alternate adjacent corner was made in conjunction with water catchment processes through the glazing system as well. • Incorporated sustainable principles which influenced the forms and orientations of the building masses include: Eco-friendly materials throughout, harnessed solar power; through solar PV glass, temperature and light control: through solar shading devices, green roofs; to assist thermal insulation and water mitigation, and water catchment systems to harness excess water to sustain green roofs and landscaping. • Community orientation • Clear definition of zones • Therapeutic experience • Serene environment • Accessibility • Sustainability • Visual interest

FINISHES GREEN MAT’LS EXTERIOR : METRO-THIN BRICK: PAPERSTOME PANELS Allows for more building options like added insulation and more interior space 100% post-consumer recycled paper, resin based INTERIOR : POLISHED CONCRETE: ALUMINUM PANELS Recycled concrete from the site can be mixed polished and reused 70 percent recycled scrap metal
SOLAR/ SHADE DEVICES SUSTAINABILITY SOLAR FILM GLAZING Micro-thin layer of polyester designed to shield commercial buildings from the intense heat, glare and UV rays of the sun reduces heat absorption , allows light with decrease in glare, maintain a uniform exterior appearance and enhance the building's architecture. PV SOLAR SAVE ARCHITECTURAL GLASS Solar panels to provide shade and create energy.Monolithic PV Glass tiles are single sheets of low-iron glass with PV cells within a back sheet of DuPont Tedlar®. This type of PV glass is used in spandrel and curtain wall applications .
SYSTEMS SUSTAINABILITY GREEN ROOF WATER CATCHMENT provides thermal insulation, reduces heat absorption , increases green spaces, used for water mitigation provides recycled water to greenery around site
