Join the Leadership Academy and Sail Training (LA/ST) from July 5-17, 2010, in Newport, RI. This program is designed for eligible Junior and Senior cadets who have completed NS1 and NS2. Key requirements include passing the Navy Physical Readiness Test, maintaining military appearance, and achieving a final grade of 90 or better in Naval Science. Participants will engage in physical fitness training, leadership roles, and sailing competitions, all aimed at producing better citizens. Cost is $180. Act fast! Uniforms will be issued before the program.

Eligibility Requirements • Prospective Junior or Senior • NS1 and NS2 MUST have been successfully completed. • Pass the Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) during second semester AND on Thursday, 26 MAY • NO HISTORY OF ASTHMA. Any history is an automatic disqualifier. • MUST meet height/weight standards at 26 MAY PRT (Cadet Field Manual)
Eligibility Requirements • Maintain an OUTSTANDING military appearance in uniform • NO history of ISS (i.e. 2 or more disqualifies) • Final Grade of 90 or better in Naval Science • Have demonstrated exceptional leadership ability (assessed by SNSI & NSI) • MUST have a completed school physical no later than 15 MAY 2005

LA/ST Expectations • Cadets shall be physically fit and ready for FULL participation in LA/ST Activities. • Cadets shall strive for perfection in their appearance and conduct. • Attendees shall be individuals who can make psychological adjustments readily. • Cadets should be a qualified swimmer. At minimum the cadet must be comfortable in the water. All cadets will participate in the sail training.
LA/ST Expectations • Cadets will arrive in Newport and assume a “no-rank” status. • Throughout the training period leadership roles are rotated among cadets, requiring flexible dispositions and attitudes. • Today they lead, tomorrow they follow. • LA/ST is meant to be an extension of the NJROTC fundamental goal of producing better citizens.
Administrative Matters • Cost per cadet is $180.00 • Cadet Aides: $146.00 • Cost due by 14 JUNE 2010 • Uniforms for LA/ST will be issued beginning 31 MAY. • Working Khaki w/ Garrison Caps. NO RIBBONS. • Summer Blue w/ Garrison Caps and Ribbons. NO MEDALS. • ALL uniforms will be tailored, clean, pressed AND INSPECTION READY! • Polished shoes and belt buckles are mandatory.
