Her husband’s brother shall go in to her and take her to himself as wife and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her. And it shall be that the first-born whom she bears shall assume the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out from Israel.”

  3. God’s laws of pre-Law origin Sabbath: Gen. 2.3; Gen. 16.23-29 Animal & produce sacrifices to God, Gen. 4.3-4 Altar building, Gen. 8.20 and others throughout Genesis Prohibition of eating blood, Gen. 9.4 Law of capital punishment, Gen. 9.6 Priesthood (Melkezidekian), Gen. 14.18 Circumcision: Gen. 17.10 Law of the first-born, Gen. 17.21; best seen in Gen. 25.23 Sin of homosexuality, Gen. 19 Law of adultery (and death penalty), Gen. 20 Tithe, Gen. 28 Levirate marriage law, Gen. 38 Passover (feast of unleavened bread): Ex. 12

Jacob to Rachel “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?” Rachel’s scheme God opened Rachel’s womb. (not the mandrakes). Onan with Tamar Intimacy with deliberate prevention of conception. Full-term abortion: Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives…“When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth…if it is a son, then you shall put him to death…” Man’s Desire to Control Child-birth

  5. Intimacy, its Pleasure and Purpose Genesis 1.28: And God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it…” Are we to enjoy the pleasure of intimacy while rebelling against its purpose?

  6. ADULLAM TIMNAH

  7. Judah cuts off His Seed Judah wife wife for son Tamar Er Onan wife Shelah family of Shelanites (1 Chron. 4.21) Tamar is next gen. mother appointed by Judah. Yet remains childless and all Judah’s sons are gone. why do the sons rebel against God’s precept?

  8. “she is more righteous than I” Genesis 18.19: “For I have chosen [Abraham], in order that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice; in order that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.” Jeremiah 23.5: “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.

  9. “she is more righteous than I” Tamar was faithful to, and acted upon God’s covenant loyalty to Jacob; to bring the Seed through Judah, then through her. Bringing the Seed through Judah and then her, required her obedience.

  10. Judah cuts off His Seed Judah wife wife for son Tamar Er Onan wife Shelah family of Shelanites (1 Chron. 4.21) Perez Lion of Judah

  11. Lion of the Tribe of Judah …and one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”

  12. Genealogy of Jesus Abraham & Sarah Isaac & Rebekah Jacob & Leah Judah & Tamar (Canaanite) Perez Salmon & Rahab (Canaanite) Boaz & Ruth (Moabite) Obed Jesse David Jesus first wife outside the “family”

  13. Women of Honor Tamar — Canaanite — pretended to be a harlot Rahab — Canaanite — was a harlot Ruth — Moabite — descent from Lot and daughter Two things in common: All honored the God of Israel despite how their actions were judged culturally Ancestors of JESUS

  14. Tamar, Rahab, & Ruth What is God’s message through these three women? Though Israel is an essential part of God’s plan, it isn’t about them. It is about HIM and HIS purpose to provide the Redeemer for all who follow Him.

  15. Mother of the Tribe of Judah TAMAR Because of the unusual circumstances, the sons of Judah had one and the same wife. God esteemed Tamar’s position as the rightful wife and mother of the next gen. in the house of Judah. The only person of the tribe of Judah obedient to God: a Canaanite woman!

  16. Ruth 4.11-17: …the elders, said, “May the LORD make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel…Moreover, may your house be like the house of Perez whom Tamar bore to Judah, through the offspring which the LORD shall give you by this young woman.” So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son…Then Naomi took the child and laid him in her lap, and became his nurse. And the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi!” So they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David. Blessing of Perez Upon Boaz
