  2. What is Middle Years? Middle Years spans from the age of 10 through to 14. Experience significant physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and moral changes. More rapid and dramatic hormonal and structural changes than at any other period in their life. Changes to brain and cognitive development peak during this period. Success comes through managing the emotional, social and moral challenges of this stage.

  3. Why Middle Years at Malvern Central School? Malvern Central School is a unique context that caters for students through to Year 8. Unique with a dedicated team of teachers teaching in the Middle Years area – meaning that all teachers know all students. Malvern Central School teachers are specialists in catering for the needs of Middle Years students from Years 5 through to Year 8.

Student Choice – what did the students say about Student Choice’ at Malvern Central School ?The programs I enjoy/learn most from are (you may choose as many as you like): Some Middle Years students would like more opportunities to participate in activities such as cooking, sports, performances, learning other languages, ICT, robotics, gymnastics, book clubs and woodwork. The graph shows that Performing Arts and P.E were the most popular programs.

  12. Literature Discussion Groups: Student Reflections You get to be with other people that you normally don’t socialise with but that you share a common interest with. I like the way that we got involved in a story and used stick it notes. We got to know people that we wouldn’t really speak to before. I’ve enjoyed discussing the books. I liked the books because we actually got into the real meaning of the story. It was interesting working with the students in different classes …hearing what they thought of the books.
