  2. Overview • Battle Of The Bulge was a counter attack. Influenced by bitter fighting along Holland schelde Estary. • Race to Berlin.

  3. Liberation of Berlin • In April 1945 the Soviet Army took Berlin, just a few months later in 1945 British and American troops took possessions of their countries’ sectors.

  4. Who, What • Who: Allied armies, racing north and east to word Germany from invasion beachhead in Normandy. • What: It was a counter attack.

  8. Why • Why: Race to Berlin. During the final months of WWII Two Soviet Marshals to be the first to enter Berlin. • Hitler believed the alliance between France, Britain, And America in the western sector would not be strong enough that a major attack would break the alliance apart.

  9. Significance • The Significance of this war is that the Allied troops defeated the Germans, the Germans lost 120,000 soldiers in deaths, and another 120,000 captured or prisoners to the allies.

  10. Other • Massive Attack against primarily American forces. • Plan: Hitler planned to launch a massive attack using three armies on the allies which wound, and in his own mind destabilize their accord.

  11. Sixth Panzer Army • The sixth Panzer army led the attack to capture Antwerp. Attack is usually known as the Ardennes offensive but because initial attack by Germans created the bulge.
