  4. How does the endocrine system work • Your body produces its own chemicals and uses them to control curtain functions and the main system that coordinates these chemicals is called the endocrine system.

The major hormones that the thyroid makes and releases into the bloodstream What does my thyroid gland do? The thyroid makes two hormones that it goes into the blood stream. One is called thyroxine; this hormone contains four atoms of iodine and is often called T4. The other is called triiodothyronine, which contains three atoms of iodine and is often called T3.. Papillary thyroid cancer • it is the most common type of thyroid cancer, it • makes up about 80% of all cases of thyroid cancer. • It is one of the fastest growing cancer types with over 20,000 new cases a year Cancer of the thyroid • There are four main types of thyroid cancer. • papillary thyroid cancer • Follicular Thyroid Cancer • medullary thyroid cancer. • anaplastic thyroid cancer anaplastic thyroid cancer • The anaplastic thyroid cancer is rear • Anaplastic thyroid cancer grows very rapidly and is an invasive type of thyroid cancer. It occurs most often in people over age 60. The cause is unknown. • Anaplastic cancer accounts for only about 1% of all thyroid cancers. • Follicular Thyroid Cancer • occurs more commonly in middle-aged women Unlike other thyroid cancers • up to 33% of patients may have the cancer spread to the bones, lung, liver, or brain • Medullary thyroid • Medullary thyroid cancer comprises 3% to 4% of all thyroid cancers. • These tumours usually present as a mass in the thyroid,
